Arctic Morgans, owned by Chuck and Tracey Heller, was established in Delta Junction, Alaska as a breeding operation in 2004 with the purchase of our first stallion, Bucksnorts Windjammer. At a latitude above the 64 th parallel, it seemed the Arctic prefix would be a perfect farm name.

After 30 years in Alaska, we decided to relocate somewhere warmer where we could better enjoy our morgans year around. In 2009, we moved to West-Central New Mexico. This is a wonderful, remote corner of the state, primarily cattle ranching, centered along the Continental Divide.

Arctic Morgans has found home about 5 miles south of the little town of Fence Lake, NM. We are about 14 miles west of the divide, at an elevation of about 7,000 feet. At this elevation, the weather is beautiful, rarely too cold or too hot.

Our goal is to raise morgans that are true to the old type – heavy legged, stout and able – doing horses with the kind of temperament and ability that make a horse a willing and always capable partner. We are strong supporters of the western working morgan and foundation morgan. Not all of our horses are 100% foundation, but they are all true to type. If you are a morgan fan, we invite you to come visit. We are always happy to show our horses.
